A salesperson at my LFs offered me 250 dollars when I showed them my new DIY tank.

Did he win the tank? That would be awesome! LOL, i can't believe they offered you $250 for that tank, but then again, it IS really nice.

Now, the back of the super high tech nano.

TankBack.jpg

Trickle pipe over a filter tray containing foam, carbon filter, phosphate filter, 100 micron filter. Bio-balls (didn't want ceramic rings). 50 watt heater. 80gal/hr pump. Adjustable float switch for auto- topoff.

WOW. The filtration compartment really takes this tank to the next level. I thought it was nice before I saw the filter chamber, but now I can see why $250 was offered by the LFS. I too would pay $250 for a nano like that for my desk. Not making an offer just stating its really nice. (If you start selling these PM me I would probably want one).

Thanks for the compliments guys. Actually the salesperson at the LFS wanted to buy it for himself. I declined because I put a hell of a lot of work into this little tank. Besides. it's going to my place of work. It will have softies and maybe even SPS with 54W of PCs (2x18W 6700/10,000K and 1x18W 420/460 actinic). I'm open to suggestions as to one or maybe two small fish.

The BioBalls are there for aeration as well as biological filtration, the aeration part is better than ceramic rings IMO. I'm not worried about nitrates as I'll have LR and water changes are so easy with this small a tank.

Nice job, but I'd be willing to bet that with the fans in the canopy and the turnover you'll have that the BioBalls aren't necessary for aeration. With enough surface movement you'll have all the aeration needed.

Aww, at first I thought you actually made the tank (silicon'd the glass yourself). You just mod'd a 5.5g though.

Very nice work still, its nice to have it all contained.
