A second question about my 6100s!

Hi again,

I appreciate your help earlier.

I just moved my tank over last night to a new tank and all I had hooked up was my 1 Tunze 6100 (no light yet). Anyway, as soon as I turned it out I noticed it's quite loud! It's making a sort of "quiet grinding" sound. As the speed increases the level of the sound increases too.

(I don't know if this is normal and I heard nothing before because my light fan and 2 ballast fans + skimmer were very loud)

Thanks!

It sounds like the bush bearing slipped forward, this is a collar that goes around the top of the well the prop assembly inserts into. Push it back in.

I have both hooked up now and they both make the noise.

I'm not familiar with the words you used Roger. I pulled the little prop. out and it was 100% clean. I stuck it back in and same problem.

Look up part 3000.62 in the manual, this is the piece that has likely slid out of its socket.

Roger, are you talking about the light gray rubber thing that looks kinda like a washer (I tried looking in the manual and this appeared to be what you were talking about).

It seems to be firmly in place. Both of my pumps are still audible quietly from 10' away (when everything else is off)

I have noticed that on my two 6100's...sometimes they produce a loud humming sound. Anyone knows what this is ? Is it the same thing as GuOD's ? I'd be interested as my downstairs neighbor has said he has heard the humming.

Not sure Ronster? I would try cleaning everything and try the same thing I suggested to GuOd, pry the grey black ring out, there are two notches around the hole where the drive unit inserts and you just pry the bush bearing out, the manual shows how. Rotate it 180 degrees and reinsert it, check underneath for any debris. If that doesn't fix it we will need to get you some new parts.
