A350W or wait

Folks, I'm thinking of getting a used Kessil A350W for my 29 gal biocube. Below are my reasons as to why I'm thinking 350 vs a 360 model. Would like your thoughts. Just trying to figure it out.

-Budget (just became a new dad :) )
-Don't plan on getting a bigger tank anytime soon, nor going outside of 24"x24" if I were to go bigger with a tank
- Just want a newer light and take advantage of some energy efficiency (current have MH 150W 14K)
- Provide better light for coral growth; I dig the bluer look too

Thanks!

I don't have an answer for you but I will follow this thread as I am in the same boat on a 25 AIO cube.

The biggest reason is the 360W is controllable with either the kessil spectral controller or an aquarium controller like Apex. You can do dawn to dusk programs or acclimatization programs. You can adjust both the intensity and the color.

650-IS350 I'm interested in the gooseneck. Comes with all the parts?

As for 350 vs 360.

I like the 360. Mainly because you can control it color and intensity. It's nice having automated control over when the light ramps up and ramps down.

You can also control the 350 but with a light timer. That juts allows you to turn it on and off. No automation with color and intensity.

Personally I would just get the 360 and the kessil controller.

I think there were 2 generations of the Gooseneck which one fits old school A350's while another newer version that fits both A350/A360.

The 2 new versions I have I was told is interchangeable. That is what I used on my A360we and my father-in-law's A160we's for his FW tank.

Mike,
I can sell it to you, when I get to come over to buy the Z's and P's from you.

+1 to advice about goosenecks. I have an old A350 whose gooseneck is a different mounting thread size than my two newer A350s.

The controllability of the A360 is nice if you have a controller, but the A350 is essentially the same light for less money. I've been running three A350s on our 90 gallon reef for the last year and for several years before this across two different nanos. They're solid lights and quite dependable other than cleaning dust out of the cooling system every 3-4 months.

That being said, if I could upgrade to A360s on the cheap I would do so.

Family comes first always! So if you do not have a controller and don't foresee buying one in the next year or so then I think it a waste to spend the extra cash on the 360 if cash is really that tight. If you would like the controller and are thinking of buying one then just for the realism of dawn and dusk the 360 would be a better option...

IMOP - take a look at the AquaticLife Halo units. A little cheaper than the kessils, they put out great color+spread, and if you upgrade in the future you can chain the cheaper units onto a master unit.
