ABC Reefs

I had been emailing Tim at ABC Reefs for a week or so about a few things I was looking for... he was able to get them without any trouble, so I made the road trip up to Syracuse today.

I'd say I was pleasantly surprised, except that wouldn't do it justice. ABC BLOWS AWAY any of the shops I've been to around here. Tanks are spotless, animals are colorful, active and healthy, variety/selection is second to none and prices are more than reasonable. Tim seemed to know about everything he had, and really seems to in the business because he loves the hobby.

I highly recommend making the trip - it's well worth the 2+ hours of driving.

Since I'm sure someone will ask, I bought an aquacultured rose BTA, and orange plate coral, a pearl bubble coral, and an orange rhodactis polyp. The plate and bubble coral settled in quickly and look great. The RBTA and rhodactis polyp are still adjusting. I hope to get some pics later this week. It was everything I could do to resist buying a pair of aquacultured banghi cardinals or a couple acan frags.

You guys have NO idea how happy I am to have a quality shop less than 5 minutes away!!!! It's only gonna get better. Plans are under way for a 4ftx6ftx12in look down system. It's gonna rock!

Dude...I took the trip alone on Saturday...wish I knew you were going.

I also loved the store...what a nice place and quality stuff. I am not a huge coral guy, but they have tons of really nice stuff!

yeah tim and dave are amazing guys and i cant wait for the lookdown!! Elmira is 2+ hours away and they are def the closest place to get QUALITY stuff

I'm heading up to ABC tomorrow afternoon... it's suppose to be a beautiful day!

What did you think?

Very impressed! Beautiful store, nice selection, and people that actually know the hobby! Not to mention the great day for the trip on the motorcycle. ;-)

I plan on making a trip up tomorrow (Saturday). Guess I need some equipment and I have to start some were. Being as I have nothing at all, should I just bring my bank account or a platinum card :D ? I know probably both....

And I mean nothing... no tank, stand, power heads, skimmer, lighting, salt, plumbing, RO DI unit. heater, etc, etc, etc, :eek2:

But hey I have water and a book Ive been reading a long time :D.

But at some point I have to just jump in and go right. So be gentle with me and please tell me you got some deals! The more I buy the cheaper it is ;) .

I just made my way up there Sunday, and was very satisfied with thier selection and prices. Not to mention that Tim and Dave are totally awesome to deal with! And just for the record, i'm so happy to see a store proudly displaying a 54gal corner bow! Very well worth the trip no matter how far you have to drive

Glad you guys are, one by one, coming up to check it out. I'm also very happy you guys like what Tim and Dave are all about. If anyone comes up and wants to say hi and check out my tank, I'm only 5 minutes from ABC. Feel free to stop in and say Hi. Otherwise, perhaps we'll meet at ABC. Just nice to know the hobby's practitioners are milling around.

Hey Cully, you getting a cut of the take from this place?:D

Or you just want to see them stay in businees?

Dave

No man. I am just excited to have quality stuff available in the area after years of either ordering on line, going to Rochester, going without, or being prison raped at Fairmount Aquarium.

I want to see the hobby expand. I want to see more people coming to the area. AND, yes, I want them to succeed (sp?).

I'd like to have just as strong a reef community as Rochester instead of a few pockets of guerilla reefers.
