Do flame wrasse need sand? Flasher wrasse don't, right? Would you have a pair of flames with bimac anthias? From what I have read the bimac anthias can be aggressive with each other but leave other fish alone. I've tried the search couldn't find any info. Any help would be great.

No, Cirrhilabrus wrasses don't sleep in the sand. Flashers don't either. And I think you would be fine with the anthias's

That is correct. Both fairy and flasher wrasses form a mucous cocoon and do not bury in the sand.

Great. I'm a little nervous with the bimacs. I have some flasher wrasses and blennies. Everybody is get alone except the kole tang is hyper aggressive, he is all over the place. He is getting bolder, likes to chase the lawnmower. I think he is on his way out. Really happy my mandarin has paired. Cool to see them dancing.

What size tank do you have? I only ask because of your aggressive kole, never heard of them being that aggressive in an appropriately sized tank.

Fairy wrasses are pretty peaceful, some on the aggressive side like the Solon and Scott's fairies. I think other fairy wrasses like flames would be able to hold their own.

The tank is 6x2x20" high a 150g. I have a 4x1x18" above tank refugium and 5x18"x7" sump.
The tang thinks all the food is his. That includes the algae on the rocks. I feed twice a day. Flake and later mysis. I added a midas, didn't see him for three weeks. Later he came out and joined the other fish. All was fine for a month. One night the tang went after him and now he mostly hides. I like the tang, he's a good cleaner. It won't be fun getting him out.
Been thinking on getting a desjardini or another bristletooth type tang.
Thanks for the replies and happy new year.
