about my protien skimmer

i just got my protien skimmer and set it up. do i need the bubbles or can i just close the line off? it seems like it puts alot of bubbles in my 20gal.


any help would be appriciated.

the bubbles are what makes a protein skimmer it injects fine bubbles for small particles to attach to giving you what you need to skim running without air injection you'd just be moving water like a power head in the tank.
im guessing its a hang on type? and you do not have a sump ?

When the slimmer is new, you will have a lot of bubbles escape back into the tank. Give it a few days/a week and they should subside considerably. You may always have bubble escape back to the tank, depending on what type of skimmer you have... some of the HOB's are bad about bubble contamination

ps 75 skimmer, yes its a hob and i dont have a sump just yet. so what level should i put it on? full bubbles? or half way or so?

Run it wide open for a week and then adjust it.
