ABS vs SCH80 bulkheads

Im re-sealing my tank from the ground up (220gal tall), and while i have everything off, i was wondering if i should/or if you think it would be a good idea to re-drill the holes to accept SCH80 bulkheads.

My current 240 uses all ABS bulkheads, and i have never had a problem.
My Wife's 75 uses all ABS bulkheads, and still no problems.

I will say that there is a quality controll difference between the ABS and SCH80 bulkheads and i like the HD constructions and thick washers on the SCH80's

All opinions are welcome and any good and bad things are welcome as well!!

thanks

I like using the SCH80 bulkheads but sometimes I feel they are overkill, I sort of like the smaller ones cause they don't seem to take up as much room in the overflow box and behind.

But if you are going to re-drill, make a very good template to use. Any extra pressure on an already drilled hole can cause chips and such. I've messed up a tank doing this, but it was just a 10g. I've seen some people use a dremel and a template to widen a hole..

I have enlarged a few holes (thicker glass makes it easier)

The tank is all 3/4 glass, and i wasnt sure if there is a need to?
its in the overflow, so im sure its not a big deal, but i just wanted to know what the other large tank people say?

also, do many large tank people have ABS, or do the SCH80 become standard equipment after a certain size?

I had to use SCH 80 because my tank is so thick (1 1/4" acrylic). The SCH 80 bulkheads have a longer thread. I've used both and wouldnt think that its worth redrilling the tank. JMO.

i like your explanation.
and thank you!
the more i think about it, i may just not re-drill it.
(if it were closed loop holes, then i think i might, but since its in the overflow box, i may just let it be...)
