AC jr Cable Installation Question

I have an AC jr and a DC 8 outlet that are further apart than the cable provided will reach.
1. Is the cable (rj11?) from the AC jr to the DC 8 a 'standard' telephone extension cable , a handset extension cable , or some special wired cable?
2. If it is a standard telephone extension cable, what is the maximum recommended length and if not....
3. How/where do you get/make a longer cable?

It is a standard 4 conductor telephone cord. The max recommended length is 10 feet.
