AC Meet

Thanks to Aquatic Critter for a great meeting! I picked up a couple of frags, and some supplies for my tank. Didn't win anything in the raffle though :(

It was good to see a bunch of folks I know, and to meet a few more that I didn't :)

Yep, I had a good time too. Already got my blastos glued to a rock. Ended up with 7 polyps. Picked up a 58 gallon oceanic setup tonight too from eyebedam. So, can't wait to get it going.

I really enjoyed my first meeting. It seems like a good group of folks. I even met an old friend I haven't seen in several years......that talked me into getting one of those nice looking Sun corals.

I agree whole heatedly on the Meeting. This was my first true meeting to get to (joined at teh frag swap in Jan), and I walked out with a HUGE smile on my face. then again, I got a nifty little skimmer out of the deal and I plan to get it in sometime tomorrow but most likely it wont get done for a week or two. it may be undersized for my tank, but it should do a better job than mine now. I got my blastos mounted and placed nice in the tank ended up with 2 chunks with 7 heads on them. a ffew are small, but they are seperate polyps none the less. cant wait for tomorrow when they come out. the MIlle i got is already trying ot extend polyps and where I got it, it should look cool under blue moon lights.

It was great to finally meet a few folks and share some advice and learn alot too. great frag siminar Gary! BTW, i am norrid with names, and I cannot remember the guy I was talking to about Tangs who ended up getting that lil yellow one. Dude, you got a nice little fish there, hope he does the job well and turns out like we talked to be an orange shoulder..

I had a Great time AC! Love the meets there and the prizes were awsome even if I didn't get one. AC went above and beyond the call for a great meet. SO I HAD to take home 4 new fishies. Well 2 of those tiny yellow gobies only equal 1 real fish right? :)

And whoever I was talking with about dropping them straight into Hypo worked like a charm! I upped the PH in the hypo tank to match the bag water and floated and released right in. (minus water) The sailfin was picking for food within 10 mins and ate some food soon after and was totally unaffected from the sudden drop from 1.023 to 1.009

Thanks again for the food, fellowship from like minded reef geeks, door prizes and great store wide deals tonight. It was awsome!

Thanks to all who came out last night, and thanks to Chris and the Critter for the raffle donations (D&D Enterpirses skimmer, Aqua C remora, and the moon lights) and the food, as well as the mille and the blasto's. Chris wouldn't let me pay for the blasto... Be sure to thank them again when you see them.

I had a great time meeting all the new faces (and there are a lot since last years AC meeting). I hope everyone is pleased with their corals. I really like the blastos. They had some nice color before we started hacking on them.

That's great to know! Thanks for being the guinea pig ;) Seriously though, Steven Pro emphasizes that the rapid drop is good for treating parasites, and the fish tolerate it very well.

I know this isn't a QT thread, but do you keep your salinity spot on at 1.009, or does it vary (slightly less or slightly more than 1.009)? How do you calibrate your refractometer, assuming that is what you use to measure salinity? Just curious because you are hypoing all new additions and I have only had partial success with hypo (some fish made it, and some haven't).

Thanks again, Chris and AC, for the coral colonies that we fragged. And thanks, Gary, for the fragging :)

Jack

Thanks AC and Gary! What a great first meeting. It was awesome to meet people interested in the hobby, specially being new to Nashville and not knowing many people.

I really look forward to the next meeting! Please let me know how i can contribute to the club and assist in any way with the meetings!

Jack

P.S. The frags are doing great!

It was an awesome meeting. Thanks to the critter for the blastos & donations. Im glad I got to meet a few folks finally. Funny how gary always wins raffles maybe i should get him to but me a lotto ticket. Just kidding. I ended up restocking my frozen food supply & getting a couple peppermint shrimp hopefully theyll take care of some aptisia. I also got some radioacive dragon eyes from Angela which opened up as soon as I put them in the water.
Thanks again critter for a great meet.:crazy1:

MTRC website is updated with details from the meeting last night, for those who weren't able to make it.

Hopefully I'll be able to get a nice digital camera soon so the "details" from the meetings will be more interesting.

OK.. for those of you that realy care, I was able to get my skimmer installed today. Fits in my sump like It was designed for it! Better than my old one. now we shall see how well it works. the downside to it is that my old skimmer pump was a 500+gph and this one is 238gph. my old pump had an outlet on it that when the pump had some pressure, it would feed low pressure water into my de-nitrator coil. now, I have to continue to run that pump in the sump for just that coil, but it does keep the sump stirred. heck, I may just have to route it back to the display.

Blasto frags have opened and Mille looks great!

OK, I think I've found my niche in MTRC.
I can help out here. Photography is a hobby.

um... yea, but it is probably better than the el cheapo Jebo I have been using. I plan on trying it for a few weeks to see how well it works, and it wont do the job, I will sell it.

wish I could have been there. Sunday was the only day I could goto KY to pick up a 120 gallon used system I found for a good price.

Man, I could use some pointers on taking pics. I can't get the colors to turn out right.

Some photos of the meetings would be great! Like some action pics of frags flying off as Gary cut the mille. For a minute I thought Edward Scissors Hands was fragging that thing.
