AC unit took a poo poo last night. Anyone know of any AC guy to get a new unit replaced. Kind of on a budget (wedding soon), so if its too much, probably just get it fixed :/

Let me know if anyone here does ac work or know of anyone that can hook it up.

Will offer free corals (no cheap corals) for the referral/person that I will be using :)

*Not asking for free work, just someone I can afford to do good work....

I don't know of an A/C guy, but I have a portable (on wheels) evaporative cooler that could be used in the meantime if you need.

My motor went out this past weekend and I used Integrity (http://integrity-hvac.com/). They were on-time, walked me through a few questions I had about some DIY stuff and were reasonable. I'd recommend them unless there's a FRAG member who can help you out.

Oh, and if you need $ for the wedding, consider selling your tank to me! :)

Also, just in general... I learned the hard way... the "high performance" air filters should be changed extremely often (every 3 weeks) in AZ if you use them, but 2 different A/C servicemen told me NOT to use them at all in the summer. I was told they put too much strain on air conditioning units in Phoenix. I was recommended to buy the "$.99 cheapies" for May-September (or basically when the outside temp varies from the thermostat desired temp by 15 degrees).

Every HVAC person I've dealt with always recommends the cheapest filters you can find. Even my allergy dr. said to use the cheap ones.

if that doesn't work I'm going through the exact same thing (just waiting on my land lord to make a decision) so I know of a guy that gave us a decent deal depending on your price range.

What are the symptoms? Maybe its an easy fix.
Congrads on the wedding.

Sorry about the wedding and the AC...:)
I have a portable AC unit on wheels, looks like a big R2D2 and it works exceptional well at keeping a medium size room at 80 in 114 degree day - you may borrow if you need it?

Depending on what's the issue is. If its the outside unit. I would check your run caps. If its bulging then it needs replaced. You can pick one up for about 10 bucks just make sure it's the same micro farads.

thanks guys, looks like I need to replace the unit asap. Doesn't help the worst months of summer is upon us!

Need to do some shopping around for the best price before committing.
With the wedding and a surgery in the up coming months, I might be forced to just patch the problem till get have the extra cash. We will see...

Thanks JC and Bugs for generous offer, I think I'll be okay for now, at lease till I replace the 30 year old collector's item ac unit :)

Chris, didn't get your pm, if you can send it again. I want to get quotes from a few places

Nick, Thanks for the contact! maybe you should forward it to Eric (Zibba) as well for future reference. $68 sounds like a great plan, can you talk to my fiancé, haha

Eric, even if I sold the tank to you, it will only cover fraction of the cost of "our" wedding, so I'll keep it. At least after we get married, I'll have some that belongs to "me". LOL

Frank, there a quite few things that need to be fix soon, so replacing it is ideal.

Anyhow, if I decide to go with a company/person you referred to me, I'll pm you to come over and pick out anything you want in my tank :)

Thanks guys!

I had a new unit put on my rental property last year. I can get the info if you wan't but here is what the cost were for me. (My unit was on top of the property so additional expense was required, it was cheaper by at least $1800 than any other quote I received and was done by a company that knows my family)

3 ton new unit heat pump on it, 13 sear, 10 year parts warranty for $3280 for everything, labor etc.
