Hey wondering if anyone can tell me specs about Acalpulco mexico waters? I plan to do some collecting for my aquarium coming up, but not too sure what there is to find there. Any snails or crabs that might be good for the reef? I know there are sand dollars as ive stepped on lots. I might take a few of those. And what about using the seawater there for filling my reef. Is it good? thanks.

Mexico has some pretty restrictive collecting laws you'll want to check into. For the most part, my understanding is just forget about doing any collecting there.

+1 the authorities probably will not understand when your doing and will not be pleased. even if collection by citizens is legal(dont know if it is) you have no rights what so ever when in mexico as an alien.

best of luck

If you are still thinking about setting up a little business south of the border, you are asking for serious trouble. You don't seem to have a business plan, and everything you described in your last set of questions is in violation of Mexican and US law. The one great advantage you have is that the authorities in Mexico will probably let your wife bring you food.

Not collecting species for selling. Im not willing to do anything illegal, dont want to be put in jail... What i want to do is use natural seawater for my aquarium, will try to bring some back. And if possible collect a few snails and sand dollars for my tanks clean up crew.

Eventually ill set up a coral fragment farm, outside of my house or inside a greenhouse on land somewhere.
