acan lord placement

I have a 110 24 " tall, will the acan do well on the bottom under 2x 175 mh and 2x110 vho.

I have two acans. Both were purchased at the same time in May. Both are chop frags (dremeled) with two full polyps and maybe 8 surrounding polyps. The tank is doing great - everything is growing fast and I have no parameters out of whack.

The first acan is great and has been A+ from the start not matter what I do. High/med light and high/med current - it has been fine all the time (I recently had to rearrange some tank items and upgraded my lighting from VHO to MH). The partial polyps are now full grown and dividing again.

The second is, and always has been, OK at best. It certainly does not look as happy. The partial polyps do not appear to be growing but the center polyps are still in good shape.

Here is where I need your help....I feed both acans on the same schedule with variety foods via targeted feeding. The partial polyps are hard to feed though. Are these polyps doomed? I'm concerned they are not getting enough. How often should I be feeding these guys? I've seen conflicting information on feeding.

I think that target feeding is good although not required... BUT with re: to the growth patterns of these animals Randy O pointed out in another thread probably the most pertainant point... he called it momentum as I have heard it referred to many other times... insults such as fragging / shipping ect. can slow or stop this momentum... This interuption can take time to get over. So perhaps coral A is entering its "growth momentum" while coral B has not yet re-entered a "Growth Season". I watch similar events in my own reef.

Thanks - I hope it finds it's mojo then and starts doing it's business. I'll keep up as I have been.
