Acan on a frag plug...

I purchased my first acan a few months ago and it has started growing new heads on it...

My question is, its all on a frag plug in a round vertical circular shape... Do the new heads start to grow off the plug and horizontal? I see a ton of acans that grow flat. Is mine going to do that?

Probably a dumb question to most but thanks for the help.

Yours will probly grow like that but it's best to have them on a rock or on a frag rack which I think works the best because the acans grow right onto the rack. Hope this helps.

acans have trouble "bridging"gaps so the best way to have it spread is to sink it into a hole so its level with the rock surface and then putty the gap . it will look ugly for a month or so but then the polyps will have a much easier time growing into a larger area . usually they will out grow a plug and kill off some polyps then regrow them over and over again .

Cut the bottom of the plug off and mount the disc to your rock. You can use epoxy to help create a ramp type transition.
