acans lord growth

My acans for some reason wont make babies whats going on the have gotten huge but for some reason wont make others. I feed em all the time and they are alwasy hungry whats the deal?

What type of surface do you have them attached to? How long since they were added to your system or any other traumatic experience?

Just give it time. I've had a 3 polyp frag for 1 year. No growth. Then I have another 4 polyp frag for 3 months without any growth, then all of sudde in 2 months I've gotten 6 babies growing out.

well i added em end of september so i guess its been about a 3 monthsish and they are on a frag disc

I'm with Darren, as long as it's eating well & has room to expand on a smooth surface time is the only remedy for this problem...& post pics!

This is one year growth on some orange crush acans.I fed these acans for the first time last night with some shrimp I bought from the super market.I use to feed them all the time but I stopped.

so do I have to mount my acan lords on a rock that's big enough so it will grow out into? what happen if I keep the frag mounted on a plug? will it be overcrowded? I always thought acan lords build their own skeleton and are not encrusting.

I glued mine to a rock.They just took off from there.The trick is when you do glue them make sure you put them in a section with a sligh crevis in the rock.It will be easier for them to spread out.

Good question indeed.I havent tested in awhile so not sure.The one thing I look for is if my xenia is acting funny then I test.I do dose calc. and alk. in the tank every day 5 ml of each. I do test my salinity everyday and top off about 15 gallons a week with rodi water.I also change about 15 gallons a week as well using reef crystals.
