Acans stinging other corals?

I heard that acans can sting other corals near them, I'm planning on covering the bottom of my tank with acans and ricordeas. Do I need to worry about the acans harming my rics if they get too close?

if they are acan lords... i would worry more about the rics hurting the acans...

if they are acan echinata... then things might get ugly.

A week ago I had the pink yuma in my avatar fall onto the purple aussie hammer below it, which is known for how nasty its sting can be...... Let's just say you don't want ricordea/yuma touching anything. Who know's how long it was on top of the hammer, but anymore time and I may have lost the whole thing. It's been about a week and it's still slowly making a recovery.

it would be best to keep them away from each other. i had a ric own a nice acan i used to have. it did survive, but i lost 2-3 heads.

damn. Thanks for the info fellas, had no idea the rics would do more damage. Guess ill have to have some sort of median between to two.

Acans (especially echinata) can be very nasty, but mushrooms/ricordia are not exactly nice either. I would keep plenty of space between them.

I would put some space between them as well. I had an acan lord punch a grumpy hole out of a chalice in short order a few weeks back.
