I have a CPR Aquafuge Pro Large with a Protein Skimmer operated by an Accela pump. A few weeks ago we blew the fuse that operated all the outlets to my 75 gallon and after a 5-10 minute outage we ended up with a 1/2 gallon of water on the floor as the aquafuge flooded (oops!). Water quality didn't suffer, everything worked afterwards (with the exception of my Koralia, that burned out).
Ever since the outage, my protein skimmer hasn't been producing skimmate and the amount of bubbles is less than half of what it was before. I'm wondering if something had floated up into the pump somehow (my auto top off switch had gotten jammed in a similar manner during the event) but upon inspection I don't see anything. The only thing I can think of to do is to possibly run it in vinegar to hopefully loosen what might be in there....? Anybody have any other ideas?
