What is an acceptable temperature range for clams? If they are different for each type, which ones are better in higher temperatures. My tank typically runs between 82 and 84 degrees.
Unless there is a specific reason I would run a tank with clams in it at 77-78. That way if there is a problem and the tank creeps up 6 degrees your probably not going to lose much.If you have it at 83-84 the likely hood that you will have loss from a problem is much higher.
Thanks for the info. No particular reason to keep it at that temp. It just happens with my setup that is the norm. With my two internal mag 7 pumps, 2 VHO's, 2 250 MH lights and Fuge light, I just stay in this range.

Well, I keep my house right at 78 in the summer. I hope it does not creep up much higher as it does hit 100 here a few days a year in the summer. I've never had anything in the tank that temp sensative before so I guess it has never been a problem. I will have to watch it close.
It did hit 94 today my tank was in the 83 range most of the day.
In the wild, many Crosea clams are found in tide pools area where the temps hit over 90 in the water. The ones I have collected have all been found in these areas. (It's legal to collect them for eating...I just don't have the heart to eat a beautiful clam) Personally I am not overly worried if my tank hits higher temps during the day since it will be just like where they were collected from.
