Greetings fellow photographers!

I apologize for being absent...I was hoping to be heavily involved with those photo of the month/week threads that were at one time rolling pretty regularly but my graduate schooling took me away from both photography and reef-keeping for a while. With school over, however, I have time again! My photography skills have seriously waned these past two years to a very sad state of affairs. As much as I would like to blame it all on my camera, my trusty Nikon D1, I simply can't do it. It's my own fault, but I intend to fix it.

Thankfully, I have amazing in-laws that love to shock my wife and I at every turn. As a "congrats for completing your MBA with flying colors" my photography mentor and step-father-in-law and mother-in-law presented me with a jaw dropping gift that I still cannot thank them enough for: a brand new Nikon D200 camera body. To say that I was shocked would be an understatement...I was stunned and speechless...but I am now faced with a dilemma:

I need accessories! Particularly a new camera bag or bags, perhaps an additional battery, a new CF card, and whatever else pops to mind. I have ample Nikon glass for now, despite my overwhelming desire to obtain some of the new VR glass or that 18-70mm lens that came out with the D70 series. First and foremost I need protective/storage gear to keep this thing in.

What I am looking for is two-fold: a backpack-style for toting all my gear (potentially BOTH camera bodies and all accessories) as well as storing it, and something smaller for taking the camera out and about "just in case" (i.e. one lens on the body, no extra accessories). Also, and I know this probably isn't possible, but I don't want to "break the bank" with this.

I currently own a LowePro MicroTrekker 200 and my wife has a Micro Trekker 100.

Thanks in advance for any advice/recommendations/help. It's greatly appreciated!!!

You married well :D
Congrats on the degree- that is a great accompishment.
I'll leave the bag advise to others as the bags I use are not photography-specific and don't offer the protection you probably want. I just use an old North Face fanny pack with 3 soft lens pouches for when I'm hiking- otherwise everything goes into canvas tote bags.

Yeah, I'm starting to realize that I married VERY well. And no, I won't share them!

I haven't even touched the new body much though. Been trying to read through the manual to really learn this new layout and all its features. It's different in a lot of ways (all good of course) from my D1 so it'll take a bit to get used to the feel. I'm hoping to take it out on a shakedown run to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo this weekend and run it through some paces.

Anyone else here have a D200? Likes and dislikes about it? I'm really excited about it. Never thought I'd get my hands on anything above a 6mp camera for at least another few years!

I use LowePro's Nature Trekker AW 2, however you should go into a large camera shop and try them out yourself, since bags are "personal" and you really need to find one that YOU are comfortable with and not one some dude on the net claim is good.

LowePro, Tamrac, Crumpler, etc are all good brands.
