There shouldn't be chlorine in your water with a reef tank, as you SHOULD be using RO/DI (even RO water from the grocery store is better than tap water!!!) Stores around here sell 5 gallons of RO water for about $2. IMO it's well worth avoiding the troubles that can arise from tap water.
After purchasing my own RO system, I tested the water from each source and found that the tap water gave a reading of 350+ on the TDS meter, while the store RO was about 12, and the in-hime RO/DI was 0.
