acclimating snails

who lets their snails "acclimate themselves" by letting them dry a little then putting them above the water line? is this a good way or is there a safer way?

Whenever i've purchased snails from reeftopia.com they've shipped them dry and they say to stick them just above the water and let them go by themselves. But i dont know how exactly they "dry" them, like if there is any particular procedure or not. I mean, do they just take them straight out of water and ship them? (it was moist in the bag, but no water)

I don't but I was thinking about trying this the next time I get some. From what I've read it works.

ya im going to try it next time but i was wondering how to or how long they should "dry" first
