Acclimating SPS to T5's

I am getting some monti digita and green bali slimer frages locally. The tank I'm getting them from has MH and I have T5's - will I need to do any light acclimation given the lower light levels in my tank?

Mike,

Almost 4 years and nobody answered your question...

Yes, I would still acclimate them. The overall intensity maybe less but the spectrum is different and its possible that a particular wavelength maybe stronger. I start all my SPS on the bottom for about a week, so that they can adjust, regardless of what lighting conditions they came from.

But honestly, whatever you did 3 1/2 years ago must have worked because your tank looks great, so keep doing it.

It's interesting the threads you come across searching for some other information, and yes its a slow work day!

Take care,

Four years is a long time to wait for answer, but I get two years and three months... or did I enter a time vortex?

Well, here's the end of the story . . . I didn't acclimate anything and they did just fine.

One tank move later and they are still growing . . . I don't have any newer pictures.

lol -- are you just browsing ancient posts?

Nah, I was searching for something else and noticed it. Mike lives like 5 minutes down the road. I wish I could get that kinda growth in my own tank.

Nick, that picture is before the move. I've got a bit of an algae problem since the move but still have good growth.

I'll try and get a more recent pic.
