let's say you get sps from a lfs and they run their alk at 10 and with ulns you get an alk of 7...

whats the best method for acclimating?

It seems a lot easier to introduce them to ULNS than to get them back to a "regular" system. That may be why you see so many threads of people that come off of Zeovit or other ULNS systems and start having problems.

seems my tank my just run differently, mine is the other way around
i go down in alk any and they start bleaching especaily birds nest

i have noticed that, the people posting above do live higher off the sea level
could altitude have any effect ?

I can't speak for others, but I'm able to throw a stone into the Atlantic Ocean on my drive over the causeway to work. So I would guess I'm closer to sea level than most.

If running a lower alk then the system the frag came from do as said and drip acclimate over several hours. That is the safest method. I just temp acclimate by floating the bag and then add to the frag rack. I ever know what the alk is that the frag came from could be 11 could be 7 but I have never had any issues from adding a sps right to the tank. Most new sps look good and show PE with in a few hours if that.

For me montis are stupid easy to keep, they grow like weeds and I cant kill them. The smoothed skinned acros are the hardest.
