Achilles? yes or no

I will be picking up an Achilles 4-5" in the next couple of days. When I put it in my display I'm planning on having him stay in a 24"x10"x6" egg crate "cage" i built. The purpose for this is if there is fighting they won't be able to hurt each other. Do you believe this is the right action yes or no and why?

Current fish:
Yellow belly hippo 2-3"
tomini tang 3"
Rabbit fish 5"
foxface 5"
Then some clowns and wrasses

thanks clay

I've heard of this technique, but have yet to try it. that seems like a good idea, though the times I 've heard of it, people where using see thru material like glass or plastic, things like a very large jar or otherwise, with holes of course. that way all the other tangs could get a look-see until they were used to each other, i think 3-4 days. but don't quote me. let us know how it goes!

For introducing into the tank, that could work fine for the aggression (and it's a nice way to protect male maroon clowns from the females, if you're trying to get a pair).

However, if you don't still do a proper quarantine before this step, you still risk introducing disease into your tank, since the eggcrate's not going to keep that in.

Questionable but it may work.. They are really hard to keep so for precaution are you able to also move rocks and such? If you could move some rocks or something ya know for confusing your fish I think your chances would be a lot better.

Good luck! My personal fav fish

I would only add the AT if 2 of the following conditions are met:

1) DT has no history of ich
2) a thorough QT with either hypo or copper(i prefer copper)

Achilles are very sensitive to ich. If you're the type that just buys fish and dump it in the DT, then dont get the achilles.

thats a good idea, i know copps and others use something similar for introducing new angels etc

what i did/do tho is actually split the tank in half via eggcrate and put it in 1/2 the tank by itself. I am able to do this with my rock work easily but not possible for everyone.

I leave it seperated for 3-5 days and then release if no visible agressions signs.

i used to divde my tank that but now my sps are to big and have closed that gap, so i am trying a different way

I learn the hard way...Mandatory, QT your AT first before you add to DT.
trust me, I wasted time and $$, 3rd time around for me now.

Good Luck!
