Achillies Tang

I've been successful with one in my 6' x 4'...so that is pretty close. Maybe...but don't fill up the swimming space with rock and ensure there is a complete path around the entire front sides and back.

Here's a video to show you what you how active these fish are.

What's the deal with the White Cheek tang? It looks like it either really likes the Achilles or really doesnt like it.

I'm not sure either. This game they play doesn't lead to injury. There's never any tail slashing going on and the pace of the chase is actually relaxed. I've seen aggression from both of these fish and it doesn't look like that. Aggressive moves are really fast and the tang tries to strike the other with their blades. My guess is that they enjoy each other's company and it could be breeding behaviour.

That would be ironic because the achilles really wanted to kill the white cheek when it first arrived in the tank!

Would a whitecheek be a better choice? for my 180g that is.

My White Cheek is much less active than my Achilles. It would be my experience that the White Cheek is a better choice in a "smaller" tank (like your 180).

nice tank untamed12! yeah i would think the white cheek or powder brown would be a better choice for your aquarium steve i don't think they get quite as large as the achillies.

I definitely say a white cheek tang would be a better choice. Achilles also can be hard to keep, need high flows. Both need to be properly QT since they are prone to ich.

untamed, nice video, the tangs look like its just a nice game of tag. I saw the achilles chase the white cheek in the begining. I wouldn't worry about it, but very nice tank btw!

I have a 5 inch Achilles and a 3 inch Powder blue in my 125 and they are both very happy. I love the look of both fish. They both have a great contrast of colors. Which ever fish you go with I am sure you will be happy. Reefhotspots.com have them in stock for a good price to. Good luck.
