Acid bath and 'Curing' question

After reading through the stickies and archives, I've finally decided to give my 'dead' LR an acid bath (Muriatic). Fastforward to two hours of noxious stench, every LR (40-50kg) looked porous and better. Great! old trusty pump comes out again and another hour of sloshing, swishing and 'pump power washing' every LR in RO/DI water.

Heaving and hauling gallon after gallon of fresh RO/DI, I evenly distributed every piece in two brutes. I learned from an experienced RC'er to dip everything for a week in RO/DI, no lights and I made use of the PH's laying around and placed two for each brute. Am I on the right track?

Say a week has passed and the muriatic has been washed out, should I just go 'cure/cook' them in SW?

** Edit: Forgot to mention LR was from my old tank.

Thanks for clearing that up. Follow up question if you guys don't mind?

I plan on cycling maybe half or 3/4ths of the rocks on a brute. I get the mini cycle of adding smaller quantities on a fully cycled tank. Anyways, is it okay to do so? 35 kg on 40 gal fresh sw. Cycling directly on my 120g DT would make it harder to aquascape everything. Any advice? Tia
