ACIII Network Help

I just received me ACIII last week and I need some help setting it up. The controller is connected to my D-Link wireless Modem/Router using an Ethernet cable. I was able to connect it to my laptop and have started using Aquanotes without any problems. I can also connect to with my web browser using its IP address. I can’t however connect to the ACIII using the internet and I am also unable to send email alerts with the ACIII.
As far as the email goes, I can send email alerts using Aquanotes but my computer is not always on and I would like to send them with the ACIII. I have checked all the settings in the Net Setup and everything appears to be correct. When I select test email nothing happens, so I am not even sure that it is trying to send an alert. The manual doesn’t seem to be much help in this matter.
Now with trying to connect to the internet, I have set my router to accept port 80, and used my ACIII’s IP address as a virtual server. I have confirmed my IP with whatsmyip.com and have tried having someone type this in from a PC outside my network and it just gives them a page could not be found error.
Any help would be appreciated. I’m having a lot of fun playing with this thing and can’t wait till I have it completely setup.

For email, post your settings... that will help us understand what might be the problem.

For internet are you sure you isp allows you to use port 80 (most ISP block that port)...

Yes you have to put the IP address of your ACIII in your router. Provided that your ISP does not block port 80..


Then go to a hosting service like dyndns.org or someplace and set yourself up a hostname like myreef.dyndns.org or something.

Then go to whatismyip.com and it will tell you your current IP address.

When you setup your host on dyndns.org it will ask you what your current IP is. Then when you go thru the steps and finish setting up your account on dyndns.org you all set.

You should be able to type in myreef.dyndns.org and your ACIII will appear!!!

Very simple very easy. Especially after you've done it once.

Ok guys this is what I have going for email

Email: On
To Address: 302528XXXX@vtext.com
From Address: mikeXXXX@verizon.net
SMTP Server: outgoing.verizon.net
Auth User: mikeXXXX@verizon.net
Auth Password: XXXXXX

Everything seems to match the setting I am using for Outlook Express. Am I missing something?
I will check with my ISP about port 80. I have Verizon Fios as my internet, does anyone else have a problem with them?

Verizon on my end blocks port 80....

Those settings look good... is your DNS in your network settings ok? (otherwise it will never find outgoing.verizion.net)

You guessed it, DNS was off. Wouldn't that effect me connecting with Aquanotes? I am going to try tackling the internet problem later, I just got the DC8 in today and am hoping to get started with programming it. Where in MD are you from? I work in Elkton, live in DE.

No.... DNS is only for names, not IPs...

I'm in New Market, just outside of frederick (use to live in falston)... No problem.

OK got the email alarm working, only problem is that it sends me a status check of the tank every hour. Any Idea how to change this. Is this something I may have done in my programming?

Make sure that the email alarm name is correct in the setup->netsetup->email setup menu.
