ACIII with UPS

Anyone have a ups system with an acIII? I am currently setting up a tripp lite APS to provide backup power for my return pump. I don't have an ACIII yet, but have been studying up on its features.

Seems as though a fairly elaborate program could be made to deal with a power outage situation. I am planning to connect my cable modem and router into the ups as well as the controller so that it could send an email (maybe email to cell) in the event of a power outage.

Just wondering what programs everyone has come up with that uses a battery backup system? And how it has worked?

Perhaps it could be programmed to turn on and off the return every 15 minutes (15 on/15 off) to maximize run time on battery and still keep the DO levels where they want to be?

I have a 1000 va UPS on my 240 for my main pump and the second power supply for the ACIII. Our last power failure lasted about an hour and it worked fine. I have not been able to get the ACIII comunicating to send me an email in the case of power failure, but that is my intent.

is one supposed to buy a second power supply for the AC III battery backup port, or how is that port meant to be used?

You have to buy a second ac adaptor (just like the original one), then plug that into the UPS of your choice.
