Sorry for read and to bother all of you.
I have been in the hobby over 10 years now and last 6+ years I have adventured down the road of corals. I am having problems with my acro and sps now for two years in my tank. I can't get color in them and instead seems I have lost all my zooxanthelle from my acro and tips are purple on them. It all started about the time that I had a seem blow out on my old tank and had to transfer to a new tank also at that time I started a calcium reactor and reused my sand from old tank that I acquired from LFS that I guess they sold was pool sand. I have stable water at 9.8 dkh, 420 calcium, mag 1350, po4 .02, potassium 410, salinity 1.026, temp 78.5 and ammonia, n02, no3 are all 0.
I have tried many different things from pulling my calcium reactor offline to doing daily water changes to not doing a water change in months. I had some think that my tank was to clean for a while there is why I went and tried to do no water changes. Some have also thought because of the purple tips on my acro that my potassium was low but wasn't. I have ran carbon to no carbon. I have tried dosing phyto to ammino acid to my tank with no effect on the corals. I have tried poly filters and chemi pure in thought of heavy metal poisoning but neither helped
This seems not to just affect the brown within the coral because some of my pink and reds and greens have faded out. The first coral to stn was my pink bird nest that was size of a small basket ball after transfer of tanks. They still have polyps at night for feeding but nothing during the day and color is faded to white on them. They also grow still for the most part. Some will all of sudden start to STN and cutting to leaving them wont stop the STN once started. Back in November did a big trade with a locally reefer. He said that all the corals he got from me within a month was color back up and looked great where the corals I got from him looked good for a month or two and now have become white little sticks like all my other corals.
List equipment:
75g marineland tank with glass box overflow
20g long with diy overflow
55 gallon diy sump with only one baffle in sump
200 extreme octopus with psk-1000 not the psk-2500
apex controller controlling temp and kalk stir
4 t5 diy lights on dt with all ATI bulbs
12 diy cree led strip over dt
175mh with 20k bulb over 20gl
12 diy cree led strip over 20gl
2 hd daylight lights on my cheato
mag 950 return for 75g
little giant for return on 20gl
gfo reactor
kalk reactor
calcium reactor
dt has wp-25 and hydro evelution 1400
20gl has hydro 2
I am at a lose and about to toss the towel in on my tank and give up. :headwally: I would love any ideas or thought you guys might have on what is causing this. I have included pictures of my acro and my setup. What you see is the color I get on them. I look at pic on here and wonder why my tank looks like it does and not like others when everything is stable.
Thanks for your time!
