acro bleeching

I checked pics and there was zero bleaching 12/19....two days ago:( I now have a golf ball sized chunk of dead coral on the bar

I need some help. I am unable to diagnose what is happening myself and my photography skills are poor. Whatever is killing my acros is uneffected by revive and WM coral dips. It also "infects" by contact. i.e. a coral touching another coral and without contact. the flesh falls off at a rate of an inch or so a day. I really need someone experienced to take a look in person. I live about an hr from the criter or spring hill. just a few miles off I-24 exit 105

thx,
-bart

Bart, In the second to last picture have you looked at the base of that coral real good with a Magnifying glass. It Looks like there may be Eggs around the base in the photo, The area where it looks green around the bottom edge. Please check it with the 4 x mag area and see if they are eggs?

look like eggs bottom left circle
and maybe a flatworm in the middle circle
hopefully I'm wrong.

I do not think so, but then I have never seen them in person. Do flatworms cause that fast of a recession rate for tissue? 1"/day+

If there is a large amout of them they can! The Eggs look like fish roe but are very tiny and hard to see the first time, Once you zoom in on them though they are hard to miss.
They look green in color too, That may help you to spot them. You need to light the area up with a bright lite and use the small part of the M, Glass to see them.

You most certainly have FW, Now you Must find all the Eggs and get rid of them before they hatch a new batch of little buggers! Try blowing them off the coral with a small turkey type baster (The live ones) The eggs you can cut the part off or try and scrape them off but there will be hidden eggs you can't see unless you cut the base off and inspect very well.
Good luck
Bill

great news! after a visit by Zef I found out I do not have the bad (AEFW) type of flat worms. Only the algea eaters and i am getting ready to nuc them with FWE!
