acro crabs

I have one in a colony I bought from another reefer. This crab hasn't moved from its spot in 9 months. I know its alive because I see it filter feeding when I feed the tank.

i got two on a aquacultured bali colony.
i believe they require an acro to live, so that is likely the only way for them to make it to you alive anyway.

I have one in each of my acros right now. one had 2 but before I knew better I pulled one out. poor guy lost his freind. :-(

It's a symbiotic relationship the crab defends its home from attackers and the Acro has a pesky crab living in its branches.

My blue tipped tenuis colony I bought two months ago came with two acro crabs. They are kind of neat looking- white with a black bar across their face like racoons. One jumped to a neighoring new acro colony I bought but went back to my blue tenuis! I believe they feed off of the mucus secretions that the acro colony produces.

I find acro crabs away from their corals during the day hanging out in the dark under rocks and such...

Bright light will kill them . So if the acro doesn't provide any shelter from the light thay wont hang out in it during the day.

my acro crabs like to stray away from the mother colonies and onto the little frags and clean them up, its awesome to see them do their thing :D

I have acro crabs in my A.Valida colonies and they are great fun to watch .If my chromis try to take refuge they are soon waved away .

Heres an interesting point on defending the coral , I wonder what the effect would be say introducing an acro crab to a red bug infested colony ? Anyone tryed this ?

its interesting i found this thread. i purchased my first acro about a week ago, and on it is a tiny, smaller than a dime little brown crab. could this be an acro crab? i was wondering what kind of hitchhiker it was.
