Is this a humilis? Also, you will notice that there is a small spot that has no flesh. In this spot a little bit of algae is growing. There is an additional spot like this but twice as big on the other side. They have been there for quite some time and was wondering if there is anything I can do to help the growth to overtake this area and claim it again. I did have only 320ppm calcium for a long time and now I have it up to 410ppm on a stable basis. Is this the first step that may help the coral grow fast enough to take this dead spot back?

This is my prized possession in my tank and measures about 7-8 inches. I am quite proud of it since it started from 3 inches. Any info on a way to help these spots recover would be most appreciated.

It could be humilis, it could also be one of several others that grows in that corymbose growth form and looks identical to that picture. That growth form typically requires a very large amount of water flow to keep it healthy and growing. What is your alkalinity?

It was 5 DKH when I tested it for the first time in 2 years. That was a month ago. Now it has been steady between 8-11 DKH. I am taking better care of things now.
