acro question

I just got my first sps, a tri color acro. I've had it for about a week and noticed the I get the most polyp extension when the lights go out. Is this normal? I have a 29g tank with a 20k 175w mh. Water params are all good. should I be worried or will I eventually see polyp extension when lights are on.

Thats normal but are you having no pe when lights are on?

There is some pe, but very little. The acro is about 12" directly under my mh. should I place it closer to the light?

Sounds like the coral is happy where it is. Little polyp extension on many corals is perfectly normal while the lights are on.

what kind of tri-color... is it a validia if so i found mine to like less intense light and does not like to be up high but more towards the lower middle of the tank...
