This is one of my favorite corals, does anyone have it? does not seem to be very popular around here.

Next time u are at Roger's look for it is in the sandbed.
U will get your piece no problem.

I overlooked the one in Rogger's tank, thanks for the offer it is one of my favorites.
u got it buddy-lo mio es tuyo!;)
I had a big colony of it from LA- u have to cook it to keep the pink tips.

manny, in cook it do you mean 400w 10k with good reflectors, or could 250w 10k in good reflectors be enough?

I'm considering trying radiums for a while and 12k Reeflux for a while since I got the Luminarcs and they put so much more light onto the corals.

I think thats the coral I bought from Rogger that was on the sand bed. :)

I am going to make a few frags for the frag swap in March.

I have a smiliar piece that may be a sarmentosa. Unfortunately, its color in my tank isn't anywhere near that bright. Christy's been wanting me to clear it out to make room for other corals.

I'll take it if you want to get rid of it or trade it or something :) I'd be interested to see what the 10k under the luminarcs can do now... And I might go to Radium for a while to see if that makes a difference.

Here's an old pic, on closer look, probably not a sarmentosa. Colors are pretty dull in this photo, it's more green and has lightly pink tips.

This was a wild colony, and bleached out badly when introduced to my system. Color has improved steadily, but slowly, ever since. I'll probably take some big frags off of it, but I don't know that I'm willing to get rid of it just yet.

Jeff it may very well be.
That particular coral needs to be cooked to get them tips to color up like the above pic. Plus it looks nothing like the pic above(top of the thread) unless is a top down pic.

the coralites look very similar.
LA has that coral(A. sarmentosa) all the time in fact they sell the frag for $30.

How much light do Sarmentosas need (approximately) to color up nicely? wattage and bulb color ideas?
Eric mine did nothing under 20k- perhpas 10 or 12 l IME.

Yea. I'm interested in finding a few new corals to play with under my 10k + Luminarcs. I think I'll get some interesting colors out of some corals. The true test though is to see if I can get the green out of the Larry Jackson Tricolor. It's green in the tank it came from originally, but I can't seem to get it green in my tank, even though it's been about 4-6" from the 10k XMs. Who knows.... It originally was under 2x400w 14k Ushio or something, SE, and 1x400w Radium for actinic. A lot of light over a 180... The tank it came from though had some sick corals though.
