acro with stn growth

I have this acro frag that I think had stn at the base of the frag. after dipping it on revive, seems ok now.

question is will the frag still grow with a dead base?

If it has stopped I would also say just leave and it should eventually re-encrust back over the skeleton and down onto the plug. To answer your question - yes it should grow just fine without a base.

Leave it be. Some acropora will grow back over their base faster than others. One thing it will NOT do, is repopulate that skeleton. It'll just grow on top of it. I've got some montipora that have had spots of STN in the middle of the colony, that died off, then stopped, but while the coral continues to grow laterally and encrust around it's perimeter, it NEVER regrew over that original dead tissue. Rather unsightly
