I bought some acropora the other day and its losing it's color. Water chemistry is fine. I wondered if it might just be moving shock. I have it under a 14,000k 250w MH bulb about 8 hrs. a day. I also add some frozen cyclopeeze and DT's to feed my corals. Thanks.

Describe more of your tank - what sort of water flow do you have going, filtration, rock, sand, what exactly are your water parameters, etc.

Also keep in mind that corals exhibit very different colors, morphologies, etc, based on different environments. It losing color may not actually be because there is something wrong with it.

i would say water parameters will have just as much if not more importance then the lights ...whats your Ca,Alk (i would only use salifert test kits myself )
as long as it isint losing tissiue give it some time to color back up sometimes they can and do lose color from moving/shipping stress

cal is about 400 alk. is normal. I'll take it to AC tomorrow and get it tested to be sure though. bTW I have a 20 gal sump with a 1200 gph pump and 4 powerheads pushing about 600gph around also.
