when i cut a piece from an Acropora coral that grow in my tank it is very easy (the skelton is soft), but when i cut a piece from an Acropora that came from the wild the skelton is much more hardier.
My question is why? What is missing in the water in my tank?

generally weak acro skeletons is indicitive of low flow. They tend to have heavier thicker skeletons in higher flow environments.

what rich said, low flow=thin skeleton, because the coral doesnt' need a really strong skeleton to put up with the reduced flow.
