Acropora solitaryensis and efflo

And just to add to that I think Soli's will grow like efflo's if given alot of flow. I have become obsessed with these two corals lately.

Are the posters in the original thread sure of the species identification? Everything I've read about Acroporids states that identification to the species levels is difficult if not impossible in aquacultured species, especially without examining the skeletons.

I agree.
I think in many cases it can be nearly impossible to tell for sure without examining them underneath a microscope.. but based on corallite structure and other things we can at least make an accurate guess..

Soli and efflo are tough to tell though.

Nothing like brining an ancient thread back from the dead. :)

I was told when I acquired this frag that it was either an efflo or a soli, and since then haven't been able to decide which to call it. For the sake of my sanity "look over there by the efflo. I mean the soli. or efflo...I'm not sure" can anybody tell which this piece is? And if you can't, take a guess and I'll go with so I never have to say "soli, I mean efflo, no wait soli" again.
