I have a black long spine urchin in both of my reef tanks, it is a great rock cleaner. It can nip a sps rarely. Mainly eats coraline algae. I also have a pencil urchin, it doesn't do much.
What if i use a small 2ml syringe and straight target the bottom of the algae inside the tank, i go slowly (once every other day)? the rock is positioned in such a way that if i remove it, i wont be able to place it back the same way. on the other rock where it it growing, it has leather finger, so i guess i can remove that rock... will 3% HP do the job or i need higher?
There is a thread on the use of peroxide to eliminate problem algae on RC, search on "pico reef pest algae problem challenge". DO NOT dose inside the tank as you've suggested above. What you can do is follow the instructions on the in tank treatment. This entails draining the water down to the level of your algae, covering the exposed rock with cellophane (this to ensure contact time with the algae is optimized), injecting with peroxide, then refilling with the water that was drained, then doing a water change...
