I have a tube of acrylic that is 2 feet long x 4 inches in diam. (rough estimate) that I would like to cut in half. Now my questions is what blade can I put on my chop saw to cut this? Any help or advise would be great.
I really wouldnt recommend using water with your chop saw. Just cut it in a smooth, even motion. Youll get some melting thatll leave some residue on your blade, but its no big deal.
A fine tooth metal blade is what you want. The more teeth the better is correct. They really don't make a "plastic" blade. Not that I have seen for consumers anyways. Yes, it does get hot so I would keep your stroke slow if you can.
Also if you have the options, you want a blade that has a negative hook. Non-ferrous cutting blades are usually also labeled for plastic, as they pretty much cut the same.
