i saw on melevsreef that he uses weld-on products to glue the acrylic together. I have looked all over my area for it and no one carries it and cannot tell me where it is sold. Anyone been able to find it other than online? I only need a very small amount and refuse to pay almost $30 for hazmat shipping charges. Does anyone know if i could use Locktite glue made for acrylics? Lowes carries it with all their other glues. I am making a 40g breeder into a sump and i would only need to glue 2 joints with this stuff. thanks.

I ended up having to order it online. I went through the same thing and tried a few different epoxies and silicone-type adhesives ("made for acrylic") and wasn't able to find anything that helld together satisfactorily. I was making a HOB overflow box.

you can try weld on #3 instead of #4. i used #3 for the baffles in my last sump. it is not as strong as #4 but i had no probelms with it. i would not use it to build a tank but for baffles it is what i am going to use on my new sump. it can found at http://www.mcmastercarr.com

How far is Boone from the Raleigh, Greensville area?

Piedmont Plastics caries several different types of weldon, give them a call!

alright. thanks for the feedback. I have been waiting for about a year for this build so i am excited i can finally start building.

Weldon #16 thick like a jelly is very popular to build the baffle wall,I did that few times already and always happy with it,weld on #3 is like water, your baffle need to be very tight fit in order to use it.

i suggested #3 because it does not require the hazmat shipping charge. if your seams are tight it works. if your baffle does not makes contact with the sump wall the entire length it will not work
