Acrylic rod for rock formations?

Anyone have recommendations on some place in the LA area where I could pick up acrylic rod or something equivalent to build my rock formations? I'm hoping to use a combination of drilling, rod, and epoxy putty, but I don't know where to find rod locally.

Thanks!

I was hoping to go significantly smaller than 3/4", although this is my first time drilling rock. The formations will be about 16" high at the tallest, and also supported by epoxy. Do you know if 3/4" is really necessary with that?

Higgy - thanks for the tip. SD is too much of a drive for this afternoon, but perhaps the seller isn't all the way south. I'll see if I can locate the thread.

I used these guys from Home Depot

They have a fiberglass rod, and I just cut off the sizes I needed as I went.

I used them to make this scape

Thank you all for the suggestion on fiberglass. I got some from McMaster, and I agree that it's much stronger than acrylic.

I just used the long area of the plastic coat hangers. Used PVC cutters to cut before the curve and to desired length. Black hangers worked great and used some sand paper to rough them up so that anything that wanted to grow on them could.
