Anyone here use elbow grease and actually get good info on removing scratches on a tank? Has anyone tried the NOVUS stuff after sanding? Did it work? etc. etc.
My tank was totally scratched up when i got it i put in the elbow grease and got almost all of them out. The Novus stuff is what i used. I had 2 different bottles one was for deep scratches the other was light scracthes. When you do it dont use paper towels. Use high quality cloth like flanel.
I've used the Novus stuff, but I'm lazy and used a drill and buffer ball. I started with a badly scratched 90g and now have what looks like a brand new 90g.

Sorry no pics to back up my claims. I am unable to find my before/after shots My before and after aren't quite that drastic, however, you'll only find one small blemish left in my display. If you know what you're looking for, it's a shallow scratch that was smoothed out during buffing. I spent just around 8 hours.
I tried the liquid stuff, which worked ok on the light scratches. Then went on line to Everclear, http://etr-inc.com and got a sanding kit. Much faster, and it gets out the deep scratches, but you still need to use the liquid to finish the outside. I got the kit that fits on my Algae Free magnet and it did the inside without bothering the fish much. If you want to go cheaper, you can get sandpaper up to 2500 grit at TAP Plastics and finish with the liquids.

That everclear website has the underwater models... I was debating on whether or not I should use that, and I am leaning more towards it as the outcome seems really rewarding.
