What size acrylic is optimal for baffles in a sump?

I know 3/8" is common but I read that 1/2" acryclic is much more stable?

What size sump? I have a 10, 20 High, and a 30 gallon sumps, and used 3/8" and they are working great. Will even admit to using 1/4 on my first sump, and those baffles are still holding, granted the water level on both sides is about the same.

I have always used 1/4" acrylic for mine - one of my sumps is over 20 years old and has had no problems at all

It's a small sump, 10g I believe.

Hey Todd, remember I asked you dimensions of your Lifereef overflow box, NOW I finally have some time to build it and the sump. Going to go get some acrylic today or tomorrow.

So I guess I'll go with 1/4".

That is great, want to see pictures of it all.

1/4 should be fine with a 10 gallon sump, the front to back distance isn't all that great. If I can manage to get off the couch, I will check what size ones I used for my 10 gallon sump.

Lol, I sort of have the same problem, the few minutes I got of freedom in the past few weeks were spend either watching tv or playing PS3.

Used 1/4" on the 40g sump; there's a little bowing on the fuge wall, but it's almost 16" tall. The rest of the baffles, no problem and it's been in operation for about 4 years.
