acrylic tank question

I purchased a 300gallon acrylic tank used. I made some mods to it and filled it to leak test. All went well. My question is, there was alittle bow in the front and back of the tank. Being that it is 8' long I'm assuming this is normal. Is it? Its my first experence with an acrylic tank. I would have bought glass but the price was right. Thanks for your help.

How thick is the acrylic?

How tall is the tank?

What type of bracing do you have over the top?

I am not an acrylic expert but my tank is 96x48x24 with 1" acrylic, 3" euro brace over the top and no top brace. I don't notice any bow at all when i fill it up with water.

Having a tank that long and tall with only 1/2" acrylic would worry me quite a bit!

How much bow are you seeing ... is it like the old TV's bowed?

Are you doing an inwall system where you can brace the sides and back?

A slight bow is fine. Mine has a slight bow. Many acrylic tanks do. Mine is 75x30x29. I'm the second owner. The first guy had it for five years.

I HAVE THE SAME TANK AND IT SHOULDN'T BOW THAT MUCH IF ITS NOTICEABLE IT THINK I WOULD BE A LITTLE WORRY , THEY SHOULD MADE IT AT LEAST 3/4 " BEING ITS 30" HIGH. 300 GALLONS OF WATER IS A LOT OF MESS. MOST OF THE TIME WHEN WE BOUGHT SOMETHING CHEAPER IT END UP COSTING A LOT MORE THAN IF WE GET THE RIGHT THE FIRST TIME . JUST MY 2 CENTS . I KNOW YOU DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT .. I AM SORRY

I have the same size tank (96"x24"x30") 1/2" thick acrylic and noticed mine has a pretty good bow to it. I also noticed the top bracing is bowed inwards? I'm kind of worried now....I'd have thought that it, being a "TruVu" brand tank would be a quality built tank?
