Where in Chicago can I get and have acrylic cut to size. I broke the splash lens on my VHO set up. Need 48 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1/16 cut. TIA

Any hardware store should be able to fill the bill, 1/16" window glazing (acrylic). Bring a piece of the original to match the thickness. HTH

Will they cut glass too? I need some baffles for the sump i'm building.

there pretty cheap i must say
they have 1/4 plexi as well better off using that for your sump so it dont break and u can work with it

Is it ok to silicone plexiglass baffles and glass together? The sump is glass.

yep i just made a sump out of a 10 gllon and put 1/4 plexi in it from Ace

Silicone does not stick very well to plexiglass. If you wish to use plexiglass for baffles in a glass sump, you should use pressure-locking baffles. Here is a link to the article on constructing these. It's extremely simple And they can be moved around very easily.

Anybody have a good source for thicker pieces of acrylic either locally or mailorder? Been thinking of doing some small projects, but been too lazy to try and track down a good source of acrylic.

silicone worked fine for me holding strong the silicone will cure to the glass and hold the plexi

all you have to do is give the silicone some rough edges and it will hold the plexi fine, i have done so numerous times without prblems
