Actinic lighting

What is the main reason for actinic lighting? I was tolf corraline (sp?) loves it and thrives in it.

any info wouldbe apprciated

Actinic lighting is pretty much for your enjoyment only. Makes the corals look good and has a nice look in the evening when the other lights are off.

so it is not beneficial tot he tank at all?

from what ive researched, no. regular white light has enough of the higher spectrum(blue) to sustain the needs of corals.

Your corals will do just fine without actinic, but it does make them look nicer.IMO
