Actinic only

I have 4X54W(2 actinics,2 whites) T5 lights over a 1.2mX0.5m aquarium.

My livestock: NPS(dendros-scleros, some gorgonians) but also some lps, 2Xgreen star polyps, a rock with button polyps,1 montipora, 1 photosynthetic gorgonia and some fishes.

I am thinking to replace the 2 whites with 2 actinics bulbs but i need to ask some questions first.

Is it possible to survive the lps and the others Photosynthetics under 4X54 actinics only T5?

It is good or bad for the fishes and the coraline algea?

Is it possible to have algea problems under actinics only light?

Thank you.

I don't think it's a good idea to go all actinic. Actinics have almost no par value, which means almost none of their light can be used for photosynthesis. What you could do, though, is go 2 actinic, 1 ATI blue plus, and 1 KZ fiji purple. This would give you lots of photosynthetic light, but give you the nice blue color you're looking for.

Also, you might try asking in the T5 Q&A Thread. The guy that goes by the name The Grim Reefer gives really solid lighting configuration advice.

I think the Montipora sp. and photosynthetic gorgonian would have trouble living under only actinic light (everything else would be OK).

Algae can grow under only actinics.... fish don't care, actually probably prefer the actinic.
