Just curious which brand of activated carbon people think is best and why?

whatever is the cheapest. I buy the 3 gallon bucket of kent reef carbon rods for 40 bucks. Works fine. Its all the same to me.

I buy the 5 gallon buckets off Ebay. I find it is some of the strongest GAc I have ever used.

esv, great carbon!!!

carbon is used in saltwater aquariums in sumps as filtration... many different ways to use it, but if you have lots of coral and especially sps, you would supplement carbon as filtration to remove toxins... If you have never used it, i would suggest to give it a hoot... your water will be crystal clear!!!!

Sorry to jump in here but how often do you replace carbon? And when do you know its time?

I replace mine every 2 to 3 weeks. The directions on my carbon say change it after a month, but i feel its all used up before that. I dont know of any sure way to know when its time to change it besides just be safe and do it every 2-3 weeks.
