ADA cube garden 75-P

Couple current shots. Not much going on, just letting things fill in and keeping things stable.

I'm just curious, but why didn't you drill the side of the tank for the overflow? Can they be drilled? I'm asking because I'm thinking about ordering an ADA. That light stand is awesome; thank you for sharing the info on it with us.

I have one more question: Where did you buy the stand? Is it made for aquarium use? I read through most of the thread; I hope I'm not asking a question you've already answered. :p

Great work!

Thanks kaserpick.

They can be drilled. I have a buddy who drilled his and built a small internal overflow. I didn't because quite frankly I was afraid I would screw it up and have to buy another one.

The stand is a garage cabinet. I had to reinforce it a bit to make sure it would withstand the weight. When I first put it together it racked a bit from side to side, it also sagged in the middle a bit. Here's the one I got:

Thanks for the info! I'm still undecided as to whether or not I want to drill my future one. :p I'm afraid of screwing it up, as well.

Ben,

Good looking tank man! Quick question for you on your light rack. Does 80/20 also sell that "bolt" that goes into the channel? Also how far down does the rack go down the back of your tank and how is it mounted to the stand?

Thanks,
Mark-

Thanks Mark.

The bolt was just a 5mm flange bolt and washer from the hardware store.
The rack goes about 1/3 of the way down the stand.

Here's how the rack is attached to the stand:

I used the corner bracket, one on each side of the light rack "arm" and in 2 places along the arm. I just drilled a hole through the back of the cabinet and attached the "arm" to the stand using a bolt.

Right around the end of 2010, everything was looking really good, then hit a bump.
Stand wasn't up to the weight, thought I reinforced it well enough but obviously didn't as the bottom seam of the tank started to separate. I ended up getting rid of the tank and stand and setting up a 57 gallon Illuminata with pretty much all the same equipment but things haven't colored back up very well after the change. Still around, kind of lost the spark, just trying to keep things alive. Thanks for asking, might give me the impetus to get things righted.
