Add additional volume to ATO reservoir

Right now I have a 5 gallon reservoir and get about 4 days out of it. Could I add a second one next to it connected via uniseals and 1/2" PVC? It would also have an air vent in the top.

Not that I would use it all of the time but vacations would be nice.

Sure, not a problem (other than another potential for a leak)
yep but that's always there lol. I am just having one of those "man I should have done it that way" moments. I might just build a 10g acrylic container. I have the space to do it but it just needs to be no taller than a 5 gallon bucket. I based my design off of my 72g that was only seeing 3g per week. I see more like 1.25gpd in the 120.

Keep in mind that there always exists the chance that a switch will stick and the entire ATO reservoir volume will be added to your tank at once. OK, redundant floats are pretty reliable, but if you limit your ATO reservoir volume to a week or so (vacation time dictates how much) then you minimize the chance of a huge impact - however unlikely it may be.

My ATO res (left of the sump) will get me 2-3 days. When I am gone for longer periods I simply connect additional 5g buckets to add capacity. I went for 10days with the 3x 5g buckets this past spring break.
